MONEY FOR NOTHIN' Under the contract with Halliburton, the Houston-based firm formerly run by Vice President Dick Cheney, the Army Corps buys gasoline for $2.65 per gallon, which is then distributed by the Iraqi Oil Ministry. Halliburton purchases the fuel in neighboring Kuwait. The price includes the cost of transporting the gasoline into Iraq.

However, the Defense Energy Support Center, which also imports gasoline from Kuwait for use by the military services, charges only $1.08 to $1.19 per gallon, lower than the average price in the United States.

Medicare Bill Makes Seniors Sick - Bans import of Meds from Canada - 10,000 to 15,000 quit AARP,
11.27.03 (9:44 pm)   [edit]
10,000 quit AARP over Medicare bill
More than 10,000 AARP members across the nation -- 20 in Minnesota -- have quit the 34-million-member retiree organization in protest since leaders of the association last week endorsed the massive Medicare overhaul that the Senate passed Tuesday.

Boston - Senior citizens angry over the AARP's endorsement of the Medicare bill are ripping up or burning their AARP membership cards and flooding the lobbying group's Internet message board with complaints in what could be the biggest revolt in its ranks since the 1980s.
AARP Chief Executive William Novelli said yesterday that between 10,000 and 15,000 members had quit over the bill. http://www.cleveland.com/news...

Even seniors with employer-sponsored retiree health plans will be hit because the federal, government will reduce its contributions to their benefits. And, approximately 2.5 million retirees in Florida may lose their benefits.

Seniors are left with
non-negotiable high drug prices;
inadequate coverage;
loss of Canadian sources of cheaper drugs;
open doors to private HMOs and their jeopardy to Medicare funds;
subsidies for drug companies and private HMOs;

Congress should be ashamed and, at the least, AARP leaders should be replaced.

WEASEL - Both Kerry (Frankenstein) and Lieberman (the Bagel) have stated their opposition to this legislation. Despite that, neither of them bothered to cast votes this morninghttp://www.washingtonpost.com...

Pawlenty is the second governor to travel to Washington, D.C. to ask the federal government to remove legal hurdles to importing lower-priced medications from abroad, following Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) in September. Pawlenty’s visit shows the growing interest of governors, state legislators and mayors in the issue

Minnesota Gov.Pawlenty said the biggest hurdle to implementing his plan are warnings from the pharmaceutical industry and the Food and Drug Administration, which say the practice of re-importing virtually all medicine that U.S. manufacturers have sold to Canadian pharmacies is illegal and unsafe.

“My first response to that is show me the dead Canadians. Where are the dead Canadians?” Pawlenty said

"Bush should be held responsible for "cover up" ...It is my belief that you intentionally allowed 9/11 to happen" (11/26)

(Philadelphia, PA – 11/26/03) - Philip J. Berg, Esquire, announced today that he, attorney for Ellen Mariani, wife of Louis Neil Mariani, who died when United Air Lines flight 175 was flown into the South Tower of the World Trade Center on 9-11 at a news conference regarding the filing of a detailed Amended Complaint in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania on 11/26/03 in the case of Mariani vs. Bush et al that he is alleging President Bush and officials including, but not limited to Cheney, Ashcroft, Rumsfeld and Feinberg that they:
1. had knowledge/warnings of 911 and failed to warn or take steps to prevent;
2. have been covering up the truth of 911; and
3. have therefore violated the laws of the United States; and
4. are being sued under the Civil RICO Act.

In addition to President Bush, Mariani's lawsuit also names Vice President Cheney, Attorney General John Ashcroft, Defense Secretary Donald H. Rumsfeld, the Department of Defense and the Central Intelligence Agency, the National Security Agency, the Defense Intelligence Agency and the Council on Foreign Relationshttp://www.philly.com/mld/inq...

I hope she is successful in getting the truth out, but look what has happened to the others who went against the pResident:

FRESH DEAD CANARY -Margie Schoedinger, the woman who allegedly filed a lawsuit against George W. Bush in December 2002, claiming that she had been raped, has died of a gunshot wound to the head, registered officially as "suicide".

The allegations were serious: the law suit apparently filed against George W. Bush in the County Civil Court in Fort Bend County, Texas, on 2nd December 2002, claimed that George Bush, the former Governor or Texas and current President of the United States of America, had committed "individual sex crimes" against her and her husband.

The Houston Chronicle wrote a bare-bones obituary that stated only that Schoedinger "expired" on Sept. 22, 2003, and her burial was at Houston Memorial Gardens.

“All I know is I was one of the last - if not the last - reporters to speak to Schoedinger, and she didn't sound "deranged" to me in July 2003. She sounded like someone who had gone through something weird and was trying to sort it out. She sounded like someone who wanted the truth to come out. And now she's dead.”

Schoedinger's lawsuit can still be viewed on the Fort Bend County site at"http://ccweb.co.fort-bend.tx.us/localization/menu.asp" -

then go down to the bottom and click on civil court. Then type "schoedinger" in the plaintiff box and click search. You should find another lawsuit she filed against Sugar Land police, as well.

A Canary that died in pre-911 2001:
James Howard Hatfield, 43, Author Of "Fortunate Son:
George W. Bush and the Making of an American President"
Found Dead In A Hotel Room On Wednesday July 18, 2001 Was This A Payback Murder For His Writing Fortunate Son, Or Did He Really Commit Suicide By Overdosing On Prescription Drugs?
http://www.lovearth.net/fortunateson.htm" title="http://www.lovearth.net/fortunateson.htm" target="_blank"http://www.lovearth.net/fortu...

“About a month and a half before his death, Hatfield said to me, "I don't know what it is about this book [Fortunate Son], but something really makes them crazy. They really just don't want this book out there."
Hatfield said he had received death threats from Bush friends and threats that named his wife and baby daughter.

That was only the most chilling aspect of a vicious campaign to discredit the book by discrediting the author.

The charge that Bush had been arrested on a cocaine charge was brought out in an afterword to the book at the last minute at the urging of St. Martin's press, who hoped it would boost the book's sales. (It zoomed to the bestseller list immediately.) http://www.davidcogswell.com/...

Costs of Health Care -Meds Cost Double, Profit Grows, Politics Corrupt, AARP gets BITCHSLAPPED
11.26.03 (9:18 pm)   [edit]
1. No Lobbyist Left Behind What is the Real Health Care Cost Issue?

The cost per prescription has more than doubled since 1992 and continues to rise faster than inflation. A recent study found that Vermont senior citizens, for instance, must pay 81% higher than average drug prices as compared to their Canadian neighbors.Americans spent nearly $100 billion on prescription drugs last year.

YOU TOO!!! Consumers pay yet again when their tax dollars subsidize research and tax breaks to the industry.
One out of every four Americans - over 70 million people - are without adequate coverage.

While many families are forced to choose between food and medicine, pharmaceutical companies are breaking profitability records. Last year, the drug industry earned nearly four times the after-tax profit of other Fortune 500 companies.

3. Payback time - POLITICS New bill reforming Medicare raises Big Pharma's profits at cost of seniors' lives . Grateful Big Pharma execs will now line up to reinvest a small portion of their new windfalls on another four years of their best buddy. One percent of one year's extra profits would come to about an extra $14 million over what they were already planning to contribute. (Multiply that by every industry Bush is in a position to help.)

Marginally beneficial legislation that will cost taxpayers $400 billion -- some $139 billion of which, over one third, will go directly into the profit-laden pockets of those same drug companies. http://www.workingforchange.c...

Do you think he would do better in the election if he buffed up a bit?

What is so Important About Medicare?
11.23.03 (11:47 pm)   [edit]
Medicare is a Health Insurance Program for people 65 years of age and older, some disabled people under 65 years of age, and people with End-Stage Renal Disease (permanent kidney failure treated with dialysis or a transplant).
Medicare is the ONLY INSURANCE that most citizens 65 and over CAN GET. Very few people are allowed to keep their private insurance from work etc.
DO NOT CONFUSE MEDICARE WITH MEDICAID. No matter who you are, you most likely will have to get Medicare insurance when you are over 65, because that is all that you can get. Your employers insurance will not let you stay on their roles.
MEDICAID is based on income, it is insurance for folks living at the poverty level, and is for all ages of people.
At 65, whether you can pay for your private insurance or not, WHAM - you are kicked off.
Nothing makes me madder than crap like when I see some elderly person having to whip out cash in the hundreds to pay for a 1 months prescription for 1 medicine, while some other person who is insured through their employer whines about the amount of their co-pay.
If this bill passes and is allowed to go into effect, there will not be a medicare when you or I need it. Then, when the insurance companies throw you off of their roles, then you better not EVER get sick!
Most seniors on medicare have not opted into the HMOs being offered. Sometimes these HMO's kick the seniors out, and then they have to figure out what to do next.
When you are elderly, the last thing you need to do is try to battle with insurance companies and with politicians. It is up to the strong to defend the weak. These are the values that I was raised on.

Medicare Bill to Die For - Bait and Switch - Bill Good for Insurance and Pharma, Not Seniors

DEMOCRATS AGAINST THE MEDICARE SHREDICARE BILL:

Waterboy: Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Massachusetts, promised a filibuster

Da Bagel Sen. Joe Lieberman of Connecticut, a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, said the bill "literally raises the cost and lowers the coverage that (seniors) get ... and gives billions of dollars to special interest groups that the Republicans wanted to favor."

Got Brass Ones Senator Robert Byrd, D-WVa “A classic bait and switch....this legislation explicitly prohibits the federal government from directly negotiating with pharmaceutical companies -- to use the bargaining power of 40 million senior citizens to lower the cost of prescription medicines. This is something the Veterans' Administration, the Department of Defense, and the Medicaid program do every day to save money on drugs. Why in the world are we prohibiting Medicare from saving money?”

Representative Tom Allen, Democrat of Maine, said it struck him as absurd that "the government will not be able to negotiate lower prices" for the drugs on which it plans to spend $400 billion in the next decade.
"The bill will allow the pharmaceutical industry to continue charging America's seniors the highest prices in the world," Mr. Allen said

DAMICRATS FOR the Medicare Bill
Senate Minority Leader Tom Daschle (6. Insurance Co.s -$143,010)
told reporters Sunday that "the chances of defeating (the Medicare bill) are around 50-50."
Daschle SAYS he will vote against the bill, BUT Daschle did not directly endorse a filibuster,
however, saying that a number of Democrats wanted to focus "on the many short-comings of the
legislation, not the process."
"Sen Max Baucus, D-Mont. told his fellow Democrats that Medicare, 'is not undermined' in the bill
and that" the $400 billion deal "may not be on the table in the future

They Cant Let Their Campaign Contributors Down:
Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., ( 2. Insurance Co.s -$352,709)
(9. Pharmaceuticals/Health Products -$145,372)
Senators Dianne Feinstein of Cali. (14. Insurance -$91,250 )
Ron Wyden of Oregon (14. Hospitals/Nursing Homes -$50,950)
Kent Conrad of North Dakota ( 1. Insurance -$200,912)
John B. Breaux ( 1. Pharma/Health Prod -$59,150)
(2. Insurance -$55,021)
Mary L. Landrieu of Louisiana, (11. Insurance -$159,733)
( 20. Pharma/Health Prod -$94,396)
Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas (1. Insurance -$147,100)
(15. Pharma/Health Prod -$51,870)

and Ben Nelson of Nebraska. (1. Insurance -$437,516)
(16. Pharma/Health Prod -$55,285)

How can the senior citizens get decent insurance and ever get prescription coverage when even the Democrats are bought off???

These folks are dependant on the Insurance Industry and the Pharmaceutical Industry to get elected.

These people need to be kicked out of office.
