ES&S Voting Machines = Eat Shit & Say goodby to your vote
03.30.04 (5:37 pm) [edit]
Following the recent close election in Bexar county, the headlines caught my eye. I have noticed a trend with ES&S Ivotronic with close elections, computer malfunctions, and missing votes. This happened in my state, NC. I am not against ES&S alone, I dont trust any computerized voting. However, I see a pattern of covering up, malfeasance, incompetance, and failed elections in its wake. ES&S did not tell Indiana, North Carolina, or Lubbock Texas that it had problems with this software even before, (2002) and in other states, let alone other counties. 2 in North Carolina, 4 in Indiana, and 1 in Lubbock Texas that I am aware of The County Election Director in Johnson County Indiana decided she needed an election consultant to make sure that the ES&S Ivotronic machines ran more smoothly going forward. March 24, 2004 County Hires Former Voting Machine Co. Worker as Election Consultant _SHE HIRED HIM TO PROTECT THE VOTE, SHE DIDN'T TRUST THE MACHINES OR THE COMPANY ANYMORE - Johnson County has hired an election consultant. He's the same man a voting machine company fired last month as the county's project manager.

WAKE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA TOUCHSCREEN DISASTER 2002: Flawed software on ES&S iVotronic touch screens caused 436 ballot to be lost in the 2002 Wake County election in North Carolina.
Wake County had problems with their touchscreen machines in 2002. They failed to count 436 ballots cast at a Cary senior citizens center and a Raleigh police substation.
Officials noticed the problem on a Sunday night when the number of ballots cast did not match the number of ballots counted. The Election officials called all of the voters on the list that they could, and advised them that they would have to vote again.
The problem machines were removed, and voters at the two sites are casting ballots the old-fashioned way. Election officials said this may convince them to stick with what they know works.
*The “firmware in the touch-screen voting machines failed. *The technician WAS NOT ABLE TO RETRIEVE THE AUDIT DATA. *ES&S knew about the problem earlier because the same problem happened several days prior in Jackson county. *ES&S did not notify Wake County of the problem so that measure could be taken to make sure all votes were counted. The Wake County Elections Supervisor billed ES&S for the administrative costs incurred to have election staff contact as many voters as possible and allow them to vote again. full story: http://www.verifiedvoting.org... Lobbyist made money from touch screen sales Sandra Mortham works for Florida counties and a voting machine company. She profited as counties bought the company's products. ©Associated Press
October 6, 2002 ------------------------- ------------------------- ------------------------- ----- MIAMI -- A former Florida secretary of state profited by being a lobbyist for both the state's counties and the company that sold some of them touch screen voting machines used in last month's botched primary election.
Sandra Mortham, who served as the state's top elections official from 1995 to 1999, is a lobbyist for both Election Systems & Software and the Florida Association of Counties, which exclusively endorsed the company's touch screen machines in return for a commission.
Mortham received a commission from ES&S for every county that bought its touch screen machines. The exact terms have not been disclosed.
The deals came after the state last year ordered its counties to dump their punch card voting systems, which had marred the 2000 presidential election with hanging chads and butterfly ballots.
Twelve of Florida's 67 counties bought ES&S machines, including Miami-Dade and Broward counties, which had severe problems during the Sept. 10 primary election. While elections officials said lack of poll worker training caused most problems, some blamed the machines.
Mortham and the association's former president insist there was nothing improper about the deals. Broward County Commissioner Ben Graber disagreed

I want to share an article with you written by someone who has had his own newspaper, till the government couldn't handle having the truth printed anymore and forced him out!
When this man writes, he cuts all the way down to the bone! DEMOCRACY - ARE YOU SURE
Government corruption is rarely solved at the ballot box
Democracy as mob-rule....
Initially, democracy was an act of rebellion against God
The United States government has one very consistent track record for much of its 228 year history - it does or takes, what ever it wants, at the point of a gun.
The world is watching America’s unbelievable political corruption, and see it as a sign of extreme weakness and vulnerability. http://www.debateusa.com/featured/bingman.htm" title="http://www.debateusa.com/featured/bingman.htm" target="_blank"http://www.debateusa.com/feat...

ACTFORCHANGE ACTIVISM UPDATE: March 25, 2004 IN THIS BULLETIN:
FEATURED ACTION: Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Tell the American Public What You Know
Dr. Condoleezza Rice, Tell the American Public What You Know The American people deserve to know the truth about 9/11, but National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice refuses to testify under oath before the 9/11 Commission.
Click here to take action! http://www.workingforchange.c...
Cabinet officials from the Bush and Clinton administrations are cooperating with the Commission by testifying in detail under oath.
However, the official in possibly the best position to shed light on decisions that may have contributed to the tragic events of September 11 would rather spin the situation in the media than help the independent bipartisan 9/11 Commission get to the bottom of a matter of crucial importance to all Americans.
...Rice has found ample time in her busy schedule to make the morning talk show rounds for the purposes of attacking the former head of the National Security Council, she has refused repeated requests from the Commission to testify in public and under oath. Tell Condoleezza Rice to stop playing politics with the security of Americans and testify under oath before the independent bipartisan 9/11 Commission.

Mejia served in Iraq I, and had enlisted in the service about 9 years ago, one year after immigrating here from Nicaragua. He served 3 years active Army duty and 5 years National Guard.
Reasons he cited for going AWOL:killing of Iraqi civilians, in particular children lies to soldiers that war was for WMD's lies that war was to fight terrorism war really was to take Iraq's oil the suffering of the people of Iraq
"Since Mejia turned himself in, 2 US Army medics have asked to be honorably discharged from the military because the idea of killing is 'revolting' to them, a US military spokesman said."

Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Sue Bush Administration
03.23.04 (8:30 pm) [edit]
Or not so funny.... The week before 911 happened, the GAO was about to sue Dick Cheney, possibly the Administration, and Bush was about to invoke executive privilege. The Bush Whitehouse was off to a rocky start, until it happened....... Just before the 911 disaster, the GAO was about to sue Dick Cheney. I looked forward to seeing the trials on television, in hopes of seeing the Dick squirm! Alas, it was not to be. A much larger catastrophe was to occur, it's victems entirely innocent: Remember how pre-911 the focus was on Dick Cheney to provide the names of those he appointed to the energy commition? A huge scandal had erupted over his secret commission and his refusal to name its members, namely Ken Lay, of the Enron Titanic. If you go to the web site, "http://www.gao.gov/ " then at the top, select "site map" about a quarter of the way down, in the right column, you will see the title for "Walker vs Cheney". On Friday,Sept 7th,2001 it was in the news that the GAO was getting ready to decide whether to take the Bush admin to court.... They set a Thursday, Sept 13th deadline for the administration to turn over the documents related to the meetings. Gee, that was all forgotten when, voila... Sept 11 happened. That should be part of the 911 timeline. Wonder if this is something to refresh folks memories about? You can still pull up the story right now at this link: http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/dai lynews/gao_010907.html" title="http://more.abcnews.go.com/sections/politics/dai lynews/gao_010907.html" target="_blank"http://more.abcnews.go.com/se... Energy Showdown Agency May Sue White House W A S H I N G T O N, Sept. 7 2001 A congressional watchdog agency is getting ready to decide whether it will take the Bush administration to court as the White House continues to defy demands for information about its secret energy policy meetings Vice President Cheney headed up the task force that drafted Bush's plan to expand the nation's ability to produce energy. (Win McNamee/Reuters) Energy Showdown Agency May Sue White House The General Accounting Office, which has been pressing Vice President Cheney's office since May to turn over information on the closed-door sessions that produced the national energy policy, set a Thursday deadline for the administration to turn over documents relating to the meetings. The White House continues to refuse to provide any of the requested information and the expiration of the deadline brings the battle one step closer to the federal courts. "This is a very serious matter with significant potential implications for GAO, the Congress and the American people. It involves several fundamental good government principles, including the right of the Congress to oversee the executive branch, and the need for transparency and accountability in connection with the development and execution of federal government policies that can affect the lives of every American," the GAO's comptroller general said in a prepared statement released today. "We are finalizing our discussions with key congressional leaders and are preparing for possible litigation. According to the GAO, the investigative arm of Congress, there have been just five occasions in the last 20 years when the agency went to the brink of asking a federal judge to order a government entity to produce information. Each time, one side or the other ultimately backed down. But neither the White House nor the GAO has given any indication it is prepared to do so in this case. Power Play Cheney headed up the task force that drafted Bush's plan to expand the nation's capacity to produce energy. Two Democratic congressmen asked the GAO to launch the investigation into Cheney's task force in April, suspecting it was effectively being written by Bush campaign supporters in the energy industry. Environmental groups claim they were shut out of the process. The White House believes the GAO has the legal authority to seek documents only when the agency initiates an investigation on its own or at the request of either Congress or a congressional committee. In this case, the request came from Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., the top Democrat on the House Government Reform Committee. If the GAO got what it wanted in this case, one White House spokeswoman said, the agency would "become an instrument of partisan warfare." The administration's decision to allow the GAO's deadline to pass without response came a day after ABCNEWS confirmed that Bush would invoke executive privilege, his right to have private conversations with White House staff, to keep congressional investigators from getting their hands on Justice Department memos from the Clinton administration. A House committee today upped the stakes in the battle for that material, sending a subpoena to the agency. The House passed the Bush energy plan in August. But it hangs in limbo in the Senate, where the Democratic lawmakers who control the chamber have other priorities. Energy Showdown Timeline April 1: Rep. Henry Waxman, D-Calif., and John Dingell, D-Mich., send letter to GAO asking the agency to look into the energy task force. May 8: In response to the request letter, GAO asks the energy task force to provide details on the times, attendees and agendas for the meetings. May 16: Vice President Dick Cheney's counsel, David Addington, responds to GAO by refusing to provide information and questioning the agency's authority to conduct such a review. June 1: GAO responds, defending its authority and providing a list of questions. June 7: Addington again refuses the request, arguing the GAO is limited only to asking accounting questions of a financial nature. June 21: White House sends GAO 77 pages of information on the costs of the energy task force, but not details on who was involved in the meetings. June 22: GAO again details its legal right to ask for the information and demands compliance from the vice president's office. July 31: Cheney writes to the GAO, still refusing to turn over the documents. "Preservation of the ability of the executive branch to function efficiently requires respecting the confidentiality of communication among a president, a vice president, the president's other senior advisers and others," Cheney wrote. Sept. 6: GAO deadline for the Bush administration to provide information expires

Christian Coalition Leader's Dirty Divorce, Dirty Custody Fight
03.18.04 (9:09 am) [edit]
CHRISTIAN COALITION LEADERS WHO LIVE IN "CRASS" HOUSES THROW STONES - But forget that they REAP WHAT THEY THROW
Tracy Ammons, CCA’s (Christian Coalition of America) former Senate lobbyist and outreach coordinator, is being sued for divorce by Michele Combs, CCA vice president for communications and the daughter of CCA President Roberta Combs.
Michele Combs' mother, Roberta Combs, the Christian Coalition of America's President is bankrolling the nasty free for all divorce action.
Also at stake - the future of their child.
Father would be cut out of their child's life! Michele Combs wants to force Ammons to sign away his rights as their child's father.
Combs and Ammons were wed in December 1999, but their marriage soon disintegrated and was replaced with lawsuits, countersuits and even jail time over relatively small amounts of money that hinge on custody of their 3 1/2-year-old child.
This is not the entire story, read more before you decide.
MY POINT IS - THE CCA ENDORSES POLITICAL CANDIDATES, AND RECOMMENDS THEM BASED ON THE CHRISTIAN MORALS THEY SUPPOSEDLY REPRESENT.
People like this and our present Administration in the White House are ANOTHER BAD EXAMPLE.
CHRISTIANS AREN'T PERFECT, BUT THEY SHOULD NOT HOLD THEMSELVES UP TO BE! At TheHill.com http://www.thehill.com/news/0...
SIDE NOTE: Some churches will supply "voting aid" cards in their lobbies for members to use to help them see where candidates claim they stand on issues like abortion, etc. Then, these folks believe that the only Christian thing to do is vote for the yokels on these lists. This may be pushing the envelope to far, and may possibly lead to lawsuits to remove the church's status of "non-profit". Republicans are so crass to assert that they are the "Christian" party. Jimmy Carter was/is a real Christian, who lives what he believes. He was undermined by the CIA who bribed Iran to hold on to the "hostages" until the day Reagan/Bush was inauguration.

There is a possible exemption allowed in proposed laws: conscientious objection. I have a FAQ that might interest people of and below draft age: http://www.serv.net/~techbear/writings/FAQ-CO .html
If you are concerned about getting drafted, you want to start putting together a CO portfolio today. Waiting until the draft has been reactivated -- or worse, waiting until your number is up -- will not convince your draft board that you meet the core requirement for CO status: a deeply felt belief that war is wrong.
Legislation was proposed in the House and Senate (twin bills S89 and HR163) to reinstate the draft as early as June 15, 2005, to apply to both men and women ages 18 to 26 and college deferments will NOT be allowed.
$28 million dollars has been added to the 2004 Selective Service System and the Pentagon has quietly begun a public campaign to fill all 10,350 draft board positions and the 11,070 appeals boards slots nationwide. It appears that both John Kerry and the Bush administration support this action, but you can have an impact by putting pressure on them and by choosing your congressmen. | Faith Based Voting - Just Say No! *Testing is Fallible* |
03.16.04 (8:36 pm) [edit]
Vendors and Election Officials love paperless voting. Vendors love it because there is no way to audit the vote, making it appear that the election ran smoothly, since there is no proof otherwise.
Election Officials love paperless voting, because they would not have to do recounts, because they are meaningless without the Voter Verified Paper Ballot. No more late nights!
According to elections officials and the vendors:Testing is done to ensure those votes are recorded correctly, the system programming is tested and validated before and after the election -- in the presence of witnesses -- to ensure that votes are counted and reported as they are cast, through a process known as logic and accuracy testing.
[Logic and accuracy tests are dangerously vulnerable to a trivial exploit that involves inserting time-oriented code into the machine; the technique, described by Prof. Doug Jones of the University of Iowa, is so elementary that it is routinely assigned as a student exercise at Rice University.]
Elections officials argue "There are many other built in security features -- both in process and in equipment and software" (Charlottesville, VA Registrar of Voters, Frequently Asked Questions)
[Perhaps so, but because vendors regard the voting machine software as a trade secret and will not permit objective outsiders to analyze the code, it is impossible to know whether the vendor's security features are effective.] In addition, state certification boards are insensitive to computer security issues and rush to approve systems that are full of security holes. http://pfaff.tcc.virginia.edu/home/MT/archives/0002 00.html" title="http://pfaff.tcc.virginia.edu/home/MT/archives/0002 00.html" target="_blank"http://pfaff.tcc.virginia.edu...
This is one reason that a voter verified ballot is needed to audit the elections, detect error and provide for recounts. Currently there are machines being used across the country that do not provide for this.

Trent Lott: Now Favors Drug Importation - A Republican Does Something Decent!
03.12.04 (3:15 pm) [edit]
I will never make fun of Trent Lott's hair again! The article is at the NY times here: http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/12/politics/1 2MEDI.html" title="http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/12/politics/1 2MEDI.html" target="_blank"http://www.nytimes.com/2004/0... excerpt: WASHINGTON, March 11 — Supporters of legislation to allow imports of low-cost prescription drugs gained a significant convert on Thursday when Senator Trent Lott, the former Republican leader, said he would back the effort.
"I cannot explain to my mother any longer why she should pay twice or two-thirds more than what is paid in Canada and Mexico," said Mr. Lott, of Mississippi. "I'm switching my position."
========================= =========== I sent him a thank you e-mail with a brief note. here: senatorlott@lott.senate.gov Drug importation would save my mother $3,000 a year at least! She spent $6,600 last year. Running about the same this year. Cant get prescription insurance, just a lousy discount.
I never expected any Republican to do this. I guess he figured out Bush's true colors, and when he was no longer Senate Majority Leader, he had nothing to hold back!
If you like what Senator Lott did, I hope you will send him an email to show your support for his brave stance!

IS IT STILL CALLED DEMOCRACY?
03.08.04 (8:41 pm) [edit]
If you have to lie, steal and cheat, If bribery is needed, If the public has to be misled, If dishonest people are put in charge over your operations, If you have to stab your own side in the back, If you serve only 4 months in the war theatre, get 3 purple hearts, and no visible sign that you were ever injured, If you claim to have God on your side, If you plan to increase the number of your troops in a sovereign country illegally attacked, If you plan to be sElected on voting machines that cannot be audited, If you have fattened the very media that must report your activities, THEN IS THIS STILL CALLED A DEMOCRACY? or are we still in BUSH/ORWELL 2000?

The Real Reason Martha Stewart Got Busted...
03.08.04 (8:03 pm) [edit]
Besides being a brilliant, creative, tempermental and a high profile personality, she: was a major Democratic Party donor for most of the 1990s, giving the legal maximum to the campaigns of Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton and Al Gore, along with more than $100,000 in additional cash to related Democratic causes.
Federal Election Commission records reviewed by NewsMax.com showed that Stewart has given nearly $170,000 to Democratic Party accounts since 1992, including $3,000 to Bill Clinton for his 1992 and 1996 presidential campaigns, $2,000 for Gore's 2000 White House bid and $1,000 for Hillary Clinton's New York Senate campaign.
Stewart's donations to combined Democratic accounts were much more generous, with her largest single contribution - $75,000 - funneled into the Democratic Party's "Unity" account in 2001. She gave another $25,000 in 2001 to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee.
In September 2000, the lifestyle diva also kicked in $10,000 to the Democratic National Committee.
http://www.newsmax.com/showinside.shtml?a=2002/6/25/163343" title="http://www.newsmax.com/showinside.shtml?a=2002/6/25/163343" target="_blank"http://www.newsmax.com/showin...
In my opinion, the fact that she contributed to the Democratic Party shows that she DOES have a heart, a heart of GOLD. I bet it didn't cost much to get the verdict. Compared to what it was worth to the repugnants. She just got screwed big time.

I DONT HAVE TO LIVE IN OHIO TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIS HOLDING UP DEMOCRACY FOR THE ENTIRE COUNTRY.
ABC NEWS ARTICLE: "On Capitol Hill — which set much of this controversy in motion by passing a voting reform act that appropriated millions to the states to upgrade their voting machinery — legislators in the House and Senate have introduced the Voter Confidence and Increased Accessibility Act, requiring elections officials to ensure a voter- verified paper trail for future elections." H.R. 2239 is presently in the Committee on House Administration: Republican Rep. Robert W. Ney,(OH) is the Chairman. Here is Rep Bob Ney's March 4th statement as to his opinion of a Voter Verified Paper Ballot:
Dear Colleague:
As the principal authors of the Help America Vote Act (Public Law 107-252) (HAVA), signed into law by President Bush on October 29, 2002, we feel compelled to express our concerns about recent legislative efforts that promise enhanced electronic voting system security. Various proposals have been introduced in the House and Senate, but a common feature of these bills is they would amend HAVA to require that all voting systems, including electronic and computer-based systems, produce or accommodate a "voter verified paper record." "Not only are such proposals premature, but they would undermine essential HAVA provisions, such as the disability and language minority access requirements, and could result in more, rather than less, voter disenfranchisement and error..." http://www.house.gov/cha/dearcolleaguemarc h3-04.htm" title="http://www.house.gov/cha/dearcolleaguemarc h3-04.htm" target="_blank"http://www.house.gov/cha/dear...

Free Aristide!
03.04.04 (7:50 pm) [edit]
Urgent Alert: U.S. Led Coup in Haiti ?
2004-03-03 | Ira Kurzban, the lawyer who represents President Jean Bertrand Aristide has announced that he had just learned that the Central African Republic (CAR) has shut off President Aristide's phone service. He said that armed members of the French and CAR military are guarding President Aristide and he is not free to leave.
While there are many conflicting reports coming out of Haiti and Central Africa, the only way we will be able to determine the truth is open communications and immediate investigations.
In the United States, send an Email to your congressperson calling for the following:
· President Aristide Should be given full access to the media and telephone communications restored.
· President Aristide should be free to go where he chooses, otherwise it is clear that this was a coup orchestrated by the United States and France.
· An immediate Congressional investigation should commence to determine the role that the U.S. played, directly and/or indirectly in Aristides removal from power, and in supporting the civilian and military opposition movement.
MAYBE I'M JUST DREAMING!

Exxon, Mobil- CAN We Force Them Into a Price War?
03.04.04 (5:44 pm) [edit]
Hey, have you guys heard of this? This could work, because it is logical. I know what you are thinking, doesn't all oil come from crooks? Would you guys like to comment on who is the highest and/or lowest in your hometown?
"I hear we are going to hit close to $3.00 a gallon by the summer. Want gasoline prices to come down? We need to take some intelligent, united action.
Phillip Hollsworth, offered this good idea:
This makes MUCH MORE SENSE than the "don't buy gas on a certain day" campaign that was going around last April or May! The oil companies just laughed at that because they knew we wouldn't continue to "hurt" ourselves by refusing to buy gas. It was more of an inconvenience to us than it was a problem for them. BUT, whoever thought of this idea, has come up with a plan that can really work. Please read it and join with us! By now you're probably thinking gasoline priced at about $1.50 is super cheap. Me too! It is currently $1.97 for regular unleaded in my town.
Now that the oil companies and the OPEC nations have conditioned us to think that the cost! of a gallon of gas is CHEAP at $1.50- $1.75, we need to take aggressive action to teach them that BUYERS control the marketplace....not sellers.
The only way we are going to see the price of gas come down is if we hit someone in the pocketbook by not purchasing their gas! And we can do that WITHOUT hurting ourselves. How? Since we all rely on our cars, we can't just stop buying gas.
But we CAN have an impact on gas prices if we all act together to force a price war.
Here's the idea: For the rest of this year, DON'T purchase ANY gasoline from the two biggest companies (which now are one), EXXON and MOBIL. If they are not selling any gas, they will be inclined to reduce their prices. If they reduce their prices, the other companies will have to follow suit. But to have an impact, we need to reach literally millions of Exxon and Mobil gas buyers. It's really simple to do!! Now, don't whimp out on me at this point...keep reading and I'll explain how simple it is to reach millions of people!! I am sending this note to about thirty people. If each of you send it to at least ten more (30 x 10 = 300) . and those 300 send it to at least ten more (300 x 10 = 3,000).and so on, by the time the message reaches the sixth generation of people, we will have reached over THREE MILLION consumers! If those three million get excited and ! pass this on to ten friends each, then 30 million people will have been contacted! If it goes one level further, you guessed it..... THREE HUNDRED MILLION PEOPLE!!! Again, all You have to do is send this to 10 people. That's all. (If you don't understand how we can reach 300 million and all you have to do is send this to 10 people... Well, let's face it, you just aren't a mathematician. But I am ... so trust me on this one.) How long would all that take? If each of us sends this e-mail out to ten more people within one day of receipt, all 300 MILLION people could conceivably be contacted within the next 8 days!!! I'll bet you didn't think you and I had that much potential, did you! Acting together we can make a difference. If this makes sense to you, please pass this message on. PLEASE HOLD OUT UNTIL THEY LOWER THEIR PRICES TO THE $1.30 RANGE AND KEEP THEM DOWN. THIS CAN REALLY WORK. Kerry Lyle, Director, Research Coordinator

This guy is at a truck stop/travel plaza where they have those new electronic monitors that are supposed to go off if you are stealing something.
He keeps setting off the monitors, although he didnt have any purchases or merchandise.
A worker took a wand and swiped the guy with it. Turns out it was his wallet that did it!
Supposedly these guys brainstormed the fact that most items can be 'microwaved' to fry the 'rfid' chip, thus elimination of tracking by our government.
They then 'microwaved' the cash, over $1000 in twenties in a stack. "Do you know what exploded on American money?? The right eye of Andrew Jackson on the new twenty, every bill was uniform in it's burning... Isnt that interesting?
They plan to wrap their cash in foil in future.
All purchases in cash were untracable until now.
